Our Authentication Process

At JamRoc Authentication, every autograph submitted to us undergoes a detailed and independent examination before an authentication decision is made. We assess a range of characteristics including signature formation, letter structure, proportions, spacing, pen flow, speed, pressure and natural variation, comparing these features against our reference library of known examples. Where available, we also consider supporting information such as provenance, the item itself and the circumstances in which the autograph was obtained.

Authentication is not based on a single characteristic. Instead, we consider the signature as a whole, looking for consistency with genuine examples as well as any features that may warrant further examination. Our reference library is continually developed to account for the natural changes and variations that can occur in a person's signature over time.

Items that meet our authentication criteria are recorded and issued with a unique JamRoc Authentication reference number, providing a traceable record of our assessment. Where we are unable to reach a sufficiently confident conclusion, we will not authenticate the item.

Our aim is simple: to provide collectors, dealers and memorabilia owners with a thorough, consistent and transparent independent opinion they can have confidence in.
